Daniel Oshiro hails from Honolulu, Hawaii and is the Teaching Assistant for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Saxophone Studio under the direction of Dr. Paul Haar. As a winner of the Glenn Korff School of Music Graduate Concerto Competition, he was a featured soloist with the University of Nebraska Wind Ensemble in the spring of 2019.
Performing extensively in Hawaii, he has shared the stage with local musicians such as Kalapana, Todd Yukumoto, Jake Shimabukuro, and Eric Miyashiro. Mr. Oshiro has also performed in Japan and across the United States. He has also been invited to perform in conferences such as the Midwest Clinic, Texas Music Educators Association, and the North American Saxophone Alliance. He is a member of the Conical Sounds Saxophone Duo and he has performed with honorable groups such as the United States Air Force Band, the All-Star Japan Wind Orchestra, and TCBSQ.
He pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at the University of Texas at Austin where he studied with internationally acclaimed saxophonists Harvey Pittel and Stephen Page. At the University of Texas, Mr. Oshiro has played with the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Longhorn Band, Jazz Ensemble, UT saxophone ensemble, New Music Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and University Orchestra
In his spare time, Daniel likes to catch up with family and friends. He has long-standing passions for cooking, tennis, and video games. When he visits his family and friends, Daniel loves to hike at local trails and visit his favorite beach spots.
